Policy drives budgets. School Boards need a better handle on policy. How the Winnipeg School Division manages policy to address the following issues will set the course for taxation for many years to come:
- Declining enrollments matched with increasing costs.
- Over 50% of our schools are past 50 years old, our building stock is deteriorating
We are fortunate to have a professional dedicated staff at Winnipeg School Division.
“I will work with the board, administration and support staff to find efficient and effective ways to provide quality education.”
All of our staff want to do the best job possible for the least cost but they need direction, motivation and support from the Board.
B. Comm. (Hons),
So succinct yet so complete. That is the job of a school trustee and why we need professional leadership like you who is obviously both a leader and team player to work with everyone to get the job done (parents, teachers, administrators and the board.
ReplyDeleteAs you said when your dropped off you material at my place, we need to start saving money for the future to replace and repair the aging school buildings that will be a very big expense in the not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteWe don't want our taxes to sky rocket because of this, we need to put aside some money every year to be used when we fix the buildings because no one else is going to pay for this. Have to treat it like you treat your house.
You are the only candidate who gives honest opinions and real answers and address taxation.
